Latino community in Delaware.
Gabriel Blanco Pilonieta trabajó para El Sol , un periódico semanal en español
establecido en Filadelfia , y ayudó a que la compañía iniciara una edición de
Delaware. En 2006, el señor Pilonieta comenzó El Tiempo Hispano, un periódico
bilingüe gratuito Inglés – Español, desde su casa. Dentro de muy poco la colección
completa de las ediciones de los primeros 10 años de El Tiempo Hispano pasarán
a formar parte de la memoria oficial de nuestro estado, al ser recibida en los
Archivos Estatales. Esto constituye un hito en la historia de los hispanos en este
estado, ya que en el futuro todos aquellos que quieran ver cómo fueran vistas,
vividas, sufridas las cosas en la comunidad hispana de Delaware de finales del
sigloXX e inicios del siglo XXI, tendrán la oportunidad de revisar las paginas de
El Tiempo Hispano y beber de la fuente misma de la información que quedó
preservada en cada uno de sus artículos a través del tiempo.
Gabriel Pilonieta Blanco worked for El Sol, a weekly Spanish language newspaper
based in Philadelphia, and helped that company start a Delaware edition. In
2006, Pilonieta started El Tiempo Hispano, a free biweekly bilingual Spanish-
English newspaper, from his home.Very soon the complete collection of the
editions of the first 10 years of El Tiempo Hispano will become part of the official
memory of our state, after being added to the State Public Archives . This is a
milestone for his newspaper and for the local Hispanic
community in general, because in the future, all those who want to see what we
have seen , lived , suffered in the Hispanic community in Delaware in the late
twentieth century and early twenty-first century , will have the opportunity to
review the pages of El Tiempo Hispano and know from the same source of
information that was preserved in each of the articles over time.
The Delaware Hispanic Awards recognizes those who are going the extra mile to serve our local Latino community.
