Nancy Lemus aprendió a navegar el complejo sistema de salud por necesidad, ella es mamá de Chris, un niño que requiere muchos cuidados y mucha dedicación. La señora Lemus ha abogado por su hijo y por las personas con discapacidad en nuestra comunidad. Frecuentemente ha ayudado a otras familias a encontrar recursos y a entender el sistema de salud. Ahora ella es concejal del Delaware Disability and Development Council, y miembro de Family Shades. Ella está tomando un curso con el estado de Delaware para ayudar a sugerir mejores políticas y llegar a ser un Partner in Policymaking. Ella continúa trabajando con personas con discapacidades. Ayuda a conseguir equipo médico donde hace falta. Ella ha ayudado a mandar sillas especiales para niños en México.La señora Nancy Lemus da discursos, sobre su vida con Chris. Ha escrito para diferentes revistas locales y ha trabajado con radios comunitarias. También acaba de terminar de escribir un capítulo para un doctor especialista en Parálisis Cerebral. Ella también encuentra tiempo para ser voluntaria como intérprete para la fundación Make a Wish.
Nancy Lemus learned to navigate the complex health system by necessity; she is the mother of Chris, a child who requires a lot of care and dedication. Mrs. Lemus has advocated for her son and for people with disabilities in our community. Often she has helped other families to find resources and to understand the health system. Now she is councilwoman for the Delaware Disability and Development Council, and member of Family Shades. She is taking a course with the state of Delaware to become a Partner in Policymaking. She continues to work with people with disabilities. She helps to get medical equipment where necessary. She has helped send special chairs for children in Mexico. Mrs. Nancy Lemus gives speeches about his life with Chris. She has written for several local magazines and has worked with community radios. Also, she just finished writing a chapter for a doctor aboutCerebral Palsy. She also finds time to volunteer as an interpreter for the Make a Wish Foundation.
The Delaware Hispanic Awards recognizes those who are going the extra mile to serve our local Latino community.
